I arranged this to perform it at a writers' conference. I gave a talk about Joy Writing, loosely based on my book by that title. The point was to illustrate that writers need to learn to read more intensely, looking for clues. They need to learn to read like writers. This, I suggested, was similar to how one guitar player listens to another. We listen so that we may steal from them.

Guitarists will recognize the little tricks I injected into this arrangement: an alternating bass with the melody on top, then a chord on top with the melody in the bass, some rolls, a couple of rasquedos (rasquedae?) and a bit of counterpoint. One can buy a CD of the talk from RMFW if you have not, by this time, had more Kenn than you can stand.

For this version, I made it a little trickier by trying to play it to a GarageBand percussion track. If you've ever tried to play in time with a metronome, you'll understand the challenge. Metronomes and percussion tracks all play nice and steady while you're listening to them. But once you try to play along, they speed up, they slow daown, they wander off to Puerto Rico.

But hey, we're all friends here, you're not paying for this, and it's an experiment. So give me a break.
